I’ve been MIA in Thoughts on a Full Moon. Nearly 4 years since I posted. 3 Years, 9 months and 13 days to be exact.
Shoemaker’s kid syndrome. “I’m busy being loud for everyone else”, I would say. In fact, I got really good at being loud for my clients. Learning to write in multiple voices. Determining gaps in their brand and helping to fill them. Creating content calendars to keep everyone on rhythm and their personal brand on point.
Now all that I just wrote above… while true, it’s an excuse. I simply did not make my own marketing a priority.
Branding isn’t complicated. It’s just not easy.
Your brand is growing (or receding) whether you do anything or not. A thoughtful brand doesn’t take a TON of content, but it does require finding your voice and showing up consistently.
Did you read the intro on how my blog came to be called “Thoughts on a Full Moon”? Little did I know 11 years ago (good grief, can it really be that long ago???) when I had that inspiration, the moon would be a fascination of mine today – see the fun moon fact at the end of this blog.
Following the advice I give my b2b clients who are new to blog writing, I set a realistic goal to curate 12 blogs a year – one a month. Nothing crazy. It was a writing rhythm and the full moon calendar gave me a deadline. Brilliant… if only I had followed through on it.
So, I’m being transparent. I haven’t been following my own advice. I struggled to find my own voice and I was not even remotely close to being anything that looked like consistency. But here I am owning it, rolling up my sleeves and getting serious about being loud for me. Because it’s never too late to start (or restart).
I hope you’ll do the same.
